Laverty: “I'm excited to return to a track that I know”

Laverty: “I'm excited to return to a track that I know”

Increased factory support gives Eugene Laverty a needed boost ahead of the Motul TT Assen.

Aspar MotoGP Team’s Eugene Laverty was given a new swing arm for his Open Honda machine at the post race test in Barcelona and is eager to race at a track he is familiar with. The Irishman has now scored points on three consecutive occasions with a best finish of 12th last time out as he learns new tyres, a new bike and often new tracks.

In his two seasons racing in the 250cc class Laverty has had a best finish of 16th in 2008. Despite the rain at the post race test both he and teammate Nicky Hayden (Aspar MotoGP Team) completed a decent amount of laps to gain more data and better understand the new swing arm.

Eugene Laverty: “Following three unfamiliar circuits I'm excited to return to a track that I know well. I've won races at Assen in both the World Supersport and Superbike championships so I'll be gunning for a top finish there in MotoGP. We found our way again at the previous round in Barcelona and I'm feeling full of confidence again. The team continues to support me 100% plus Honda have stepped in to help us move forward which I'm extremely grateful for. Everything's really starting to come together now”.
