Fenati: “We’ve started from a strong base”

Ending the day in second overall, Romano Fenati is hoping for a good Qualifying at the Motul TT Assen.

SKY Racing Team VR46’s Romano Fenati got off to a strong start at the Dutch GP, ending both practice sessions in second. His best time of 1’42.137 was just 0.277s slower than Danny Kent, (Leopard Racing) who led the day. The Italian has improved throughout the season, winning at Le Mans his highest achievement so far in 2015.

Qualifying has often been the major weakness of the Italian. When starting on the front two rows he has been able to fight for the podium and victory but too frequently has had to battle through the field. The new rules implemented by Race Direction to reduce riders looking for a tow will hopefully allow Fenati to set a quick lap unhindered by traffic and secure a spot high on the grid for Saturday’s race.

Romano Fenati: “Today we are very very strong and constant in practice and finished in second. The feeling with the bike is very good, as we’ve started from a strong base setting here. For tomorrow we need to make some preparations for the race and do a good Qualifying. We’ll work with the suspension and similar areas tomorrow.”
