Oliveira: “Indianapolis will be a bit strange for me”

Not yet fully recovered from his crash at the German GP, Oliveira is ready to fight through issues at Indy.

The Red Bull KTM Ajo team traveled to the United States ready for round ten of the Moto3™ World Championship as Miguel Oliveira returns from injury. A crash during the first day of practice at the Sachsenring resulted in a broken left hand for the Portuguese rider; ending his weekend and forcing him to spend the majority of the summer break recovering. Despite his best efforts Oliveira is not yet fully fit and heads into the weekend seeking strong points.

With 102 points Oliveira sits third in the championship table and is still chasing the dream of winning the title, though Danny Kent (Leopard Racing) has a dominant lead. The Indianapolis GP has seen Oliveira inside the top ten on all occasions he has raced there with a best finish of fourth in 2012.

Miguel Oliveira: “The holidays didn’t go as I expected. I had to recover from the injury that I suffered in the German GP, which in between gym and physiotherapy, took up most of my time. Nonetheless, I managed to spend some time with family and friends. Indianapolis will be a bit strange for me, I'm not feeling 100% to face the challenge of the weekend. But all the points count and they are precious for the final standings, so I’lI have to adapt to the circuit and give my best every time I go out on track. I have no doubt that the fact that I’m going to compete this weekend is due only to  the medical team led by Dr. Morais Sarmento and the therapist Dr. Maria Filomena Rocha, who were able to help me recover in record time.”
