Espargaro: “The project is proceeding according to our plan'

The historic bwin Grand Prix České republiky hosts round 11 of the MotoGP™ World Championship where Espargaro hopes to get back up front.

A disappointing Indianapolis Grand Prix saw Aleix Espargaro (Team Suzuki Ecstar) struggle to 14th place, his worst race finish of the year. A lack of confidence in his GSX-RR saw the Barcelona born rider struggle for the entire weekend, unable to overcome rear grip issues. This dip does not have Espargaro worried as he feels he and his team will be able to return to their usual level in Brno.

The Czech track will present a challenge for Suzuki, who are still lacking somewhat in horsepower. The final uphill section of the track will require Suzuki and Espargaro to work hard through the tighter sections of the track, taking advantage of Suzuki’s excellent chassis. No doubt Brno’s wide variety of lines will produced close racing throughout the field.

Aleix Espargaro: “I'm so eager to get back working with my team soon as last weekend at Indy was one of the worst so far and I need to ride as soon as possible. I struggled to find a proper confidence with the GSX-RR and this affected the whole three days. It is strange because my machine has a very good base and we usually find a good effectiveness pretty soon, but this is racing and sometimes you have a bad weekend. We have a good method to work to, therefore I am confident that already here in Brno we will get back to our usual competitiveness, trying to exploit the best out of our machine and be effective during practices. Brno will be a tough race, the uphill section is pretty steep and therefore we will need to exploit the chassis manageability in the twisty, technical part of the track. We also must be patient; the project is proceeding according to our plans and we are all focused on continuing this way.”
