Biaggi: 'I hope Jorge can recover some points on Rossi'

On the eve of the Czech GP caught up with four-time 250cc World Champion Max Biaggi to get his thoughts on the race.

Biaggi has always had a very special relationship with the Automotodrom Brno, and he joins Valentino Rossi as one of the most successful riders at the circuit with a record of 7 victories across all classes.

What are your memories of Brno?
“Well, the Brno circuit is very special to me. My best race I think was riding for Erv Kanemoto on the Honda 500cc in ’98, because I was battling for the 500cc title having made the step up after four successful seasons in the 250cc class: I wanted at all costs to win for the fifth year in a row! I also remember with great pleasure the first win with Aprilia in '94 and my victory on the Marlboro Yamaha during the first year of the MotoGP ™ era in 2002. We arrived at Brno with a new electronics package, and by winning we showed that it was an significant improvement to our our M1.”

What makes the track so special?
“By far the parts of the track I like the most are the chicanes, and therefore the direction changes. The best part to watch the race from is at the penultimate chicane as they head up ‘horsepower hill’; this is where the race can be decided!”

Who do you think will win the race? And who if your pick for the title?
“For the race I think Yamaha are looking good, they are going strong and Brno is a track which suits them. However, the top 3 are all very close. Lorenzo put in awesome performance on Saturday, so I expect a close fight between the top 3 and I hope that Jorge can recover some points on Rossi. If I had to put my money on anyone it would be Lorenzo.”
