Dovizioso: “We must find out how to improve the front”

The bwin Grand Prix České republiky saw Andrea Dovizioso lose out on seventh after a race long battle.

Sunday’s Czech GP saw Ducati Team’s Andrea Dovizioso make a strong start, getting ahead of Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) in the opening laps. Rossi would eventually break away but Dovizioso soon found himself battling with Dani Pedrosa on the Repsol Honda. The two fought hard for the majority of the race, the final sector producing a multitude of stunning and aggressive passes. Unfortunately for the Italian Pedrosa would win their battle, his Honda just out-dragging the Ducati out of the final corner.

There is still work to do for Dovizioso and Ducati; the front end of the GP15 was proving difficult for Dovizioso to handle and limiting his ability to turn into corners. The start of 2015 saw Dovizioso claim three second place finishes in a row, a fantastic start to the season and the GP15, but since then has only been able to finish in the top five once. With 104 points the Italian is just two points shy of Bradley Smith (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) in the World Championship.

Andrea Dovizioso: “I am quite satisfied with how the race went today because before the start I didn’t have a great feeling with my GP15 and I was quite some way off the race pace. However we must find out how to improve the front because the bike does not turn the way we would like it to: this is a big handicap because I am not able to push hard, and that is what happened to me today in the race. Next week we will be testing at Misano which will surely also be useful to try and solve these problems.”
