Lorenzo: “I‘m very proud of my two laps”

Jorge Lorenzo falls just short of claiming pole for the Octo British Grand Prix, but is content with his efforts.

Throughout the entire British GP weekend, Jorge Lorenzo has looked strong on the Movistar Yamaha. The combination of Marc Marquez and the Repsol Honda were able to create a more explosive qualifying lap than Lorenzo and his M1, leaving Lorenzo second on the grid for Sunday’s race. However, Lorenzo’s race pace looks strong and as shown in Brno, if the Yamaha rider can make a solid start and able to ride his own lines he can best almost anyone.

Lorenzo has claimed three wins in the MotoGP™ class since racing returned to Silverstone. The Yamaha gets on well with Silverstone’s layout, the fast and flowing corners playing up to the M1’s strengths. Sunday’s race will no doubt be a close one as Marquez looks to claw back championship points and Lorenzo aims to extend his championship lead.

Jorge Lorenzo: “To be honest, I didn‘t expect to improve so much and that everyone would be so quick in qualifying, but it‘s normal for everyone to improve their times by one second out of nowhere. If you don‘t get the perfect lap or don‘t push to your limits, it‘s very difficult to stay on the first row. For this reason I‘m very happy with second place, this is a very good position, I‘m very happy. I‘m very proud of my two laps. Let‘s see which small details we can improve for tomorrow to keep a consistent pace.”
