Redding: “I took a risk in the race and it paid off”

Fresh off announcing his 2016 plans, Scott Redding secures his season best result in Sunday’s Octo British Grand Prix.

Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Racing’s Scott Redding came to his home race with his sights firmly set on achieving his best result of the 2015 season. Rain during the warm up lap of the MotoGP™ race sent the field into a frenzy, every single rider opting to start from pit lane in order to swap for wet tyres. This brought out the red flag on safety grounds and the race was restarted, all riders assuming their original grid positions with wets fitted. The rain was initially not welcome by Redding, having struggled during the morning Warm Up held in the wet.

The early stages of the race saw the 2013 Moto2™ British GP race winner battle with a lack of feeling and not being comfortable on his Honda. After several laps Redding settled into a rhythm and began to push with more and more confidence, closing in on the riders ahead of him. Redding would eventually get the better of those ahead and finish in sixth, the second Honda to finish the race and the top placed British rider. It was announced before the race that Redding will join the Octo Pramac Racing squad in 2016, he aims to end this year with a bang.

Scott Redding: “I always said that if I could get my best result here I'd be happy. I know that a lot of people crashed in the race but this is how it is sometimes. I struggled in the beginning; I just didn't quite have the feeling I needed. Maybe I was a bit stiff and tense but I just couldn't find the grip and the guys around me were able to drive away from me out of the turns. But after eight or nine laps I finally found a good rhythm and started to take more risks as I got the feeling with the bike back. Then I started to close in on Bradley, Aleix and Pol and when I got past I didn't feel too bad at all. I wasn’t too comfortable in the rain this morning, but I took a risk in the race and it paid off. Overall, I’m happy with today’s result.”
