Dovizioso: “It’s a very unusual circuit”

The Gran Premio Movistar de Aragon presents yet another new challenge for the GP15 and Andrea Dovizioso to overcome.

Ducati Team’s Andrea Dovizioso has raced in every edition of the Aragon GP, claiming a best finish of third in 2012. Last year Dovizioso was fighting towards the front of the field before the rain fell, the Ducati rider unfortunately crashing from the race as conditions rapidly deteriorated. The last two MotoGP™ World Championship rounds have also seen weather play a defining role, though with quite contrasting results for ‘Desmo Dovi’. The Italian managed a solid third in Silverstone while the double bike swap in Misano saw him struggle to eighth.

Both Dovizioso and Bradley Smith (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) are locked in a close battle for fifth in the standings, the Yamaha mounted rider having recently gained the upper hand in Misano. Just seven points now split the two and the Italian is eager to reclaim fifth and complete a factory team lockout of the top five. Since joining the premier class in 2008, Dovizioso’s best championship finish has been third, achieved in 2011 aboard the factory Honda.

Andrea Dovizioso: “For sure we want to make up for the Misano race: Aragón is a track where last year I was going well before I crashed when it began to rain. It’s a very unusual circuit and is interesting for us with the GP15, because it will give us an idea of how competitive we are. I expect a lot from this weekend.”
