Binder sets the pace in Moto3™ FP3

Brad Binder goes quickest in the Saturday morning session ahead of Jakub Kornfeil and Danny Kent.

Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Binder set the fastest time of the weekend so far in the slightly cooler conditions of Saturday morning at Phillip Island, a 1’36.519. The South African’s time was good enough to finish 0.270s ahead of second placed Jakub Kornfeil on the Drive M7 SIC KTM.

Leopard Racing’s championship leader Kent (+0.362s), who has a 56-point lead and could lift the title this weekend, completed the provisional front row in third.

Mapfre Team Mahindra’s Juanfran Guevara (+0.369s) was fourth fastest, ahead of Kent’s teammate Efren Vazquez (+0.412s) and the man who topped the combined timesheets on Friday, Miguel Oliveira (+0.557s) on the Red Bull KTM Ajo.

Scotsman John McPhee (SAXOPRINT RTG) had dominated for most of the session, sitting on top of the timesheets until the final few minutes. He ended the session in seventh, with Jorge Navarro (Estrella Galicia 0,0), Francesco Bagnaia (Mapfre Team Mahindra) and Alexis Masbou (SAXOPRINT RTG) completing the top ten.

Fabio Quartararo (Estrella Galicia 0,0) was in 14th on his return from injury, with wildcards Olly Simpson (Olly Simpson Racing) and Matt Barton (Suus Honda) were in 35th and 36th respectively.
