Marquez: “Hoping to continue this good run for Honda”

Hot off his 50th victory, Marc Marquez heads to the Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix brimming with confidence.

Marc Marquez was involved in the now legendary Australian GP, producing a jaw dropping last lap to take his first victory at the Australian circuit in the premier class and his 50th GP win. The remarkable performance sees Marquez back to his best and the Repsol Honda rider is out to carry the form to Malaysia and once again battle for victory. In 2014, Marquez won the Malaysian GP and has never finished lower than second while riding in the MotoGP™ class. With ample testing time at the circuit, a base setting will already be defined and Marquez will be pushing from FP1 to end the 2015 season with a bang.

The 2015 MotoGP™ World Championship may no longer be within his reach, but Marquez could still play a critical role in deciding who takes the title. In Phillip Island, Marquez took five potentially crucial points away from Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha) when he beat him in the final corners and again in Malaysia Marquez could close or widen the points difference between the two championship leaders depending on where he finishes. With no teammates in contention for the title, Marquez will be out to simply achieve the best result he can for himself and Honda to end 2015 on a high after a difficult season. Marquez’s third in the standings looks safe with 222 points as Andrea Iannone (Ducati Team) has just 188 in fourth.

Marc Marquez: “After a wonderful victory in Australia we are on our way to Malaysia and hoping to continue this good run for Honda, and end the season on a high. We do a lot of testing at Sepang and it’s a circuit I enjoy and where our bike tends to work well. As always, getting the best setup is key especially in the braking so we will have to work hard on Friday and Saturday to prepare for the race."
