Miller: “We expected and wanted more”

The Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix leaves Jack Miller with another race finish, despite a lacking result.

It was a difficult weekend in Sepang for Jack Miller with two crashes ahead of Sunday’s race, including one, which turned his LCR Honda into a flaming wreck on Saturday. Miller’s rookie season has been crashed filled, the Australian GP showed that beneath the rough exterior there is a talented rider within Miller as he produced one of his best weekends to date. Unfortunately the extreme heat and difficult conditions of the Malaysian GP halted the Australian’s progress and he struggled throughout the weekend. After the two crashes, Miller knew that he needed to secure a finish and focus on learning how to overcome the tricky conditions of Sepang.

The race saw Miller produce a mature ride to see the flag and add another race finish his CV. Starting from the sixth row of the MotoGP™ World Championship grid, Miller and usual race rival Nicky Hayden (Aspar MotoGP Team) battled for several laps. Hayden would gain the upper hand, forcing Miller to finish 17th and while the Australian was not pleased with this result he was content to overcome the conditions and finish.

Jack Miller: “I’m happy to finish the race today. It was very hot which made things harder and it’s always a very difficult race here in Malaysia. Of course we expected and wanted more, but it was not to be today. The team worked really hard all weekend to bring me the best bike possible and we tried hard, but today was not our best and we will learn from this. Now we look forward to Valencia and finishing the season as strongly as possible, both for myself and the team.”
