Dovizioso: “The GP15 hasn’t been the same”

Dovizioso: “The GP15 hasn’t been the same”

A stunning start to the year had some considering Andrea Dovizioso as a title contender, but he has struggled in recent rounds.

The 2015 MotoGP™ season got off to an incredible start for Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) as he begun the year with three consecutive second place finishes. Since then he has struggled dramatically, only finishing on the podium twice more and slipping to seventh in the championship table. Much of this is down to the feeling with his GP15, which 'Desmo Dovi' believes is not the same as when he begun the year. The Italian now seeks a final strong result before attention turns to 2016 and continuing to improve the Ducati.

Of the seven occasions he has visited the Valencia circuit in the premier class, Dovizioso has only once finished on the podium when he was third in 2011. During all seven visits he has finished inside the top ten, but a top five result will be vital if he hopes to overtake Bradley Smith (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) in the championship standings. Ducati have twice won in Valencia, their first with replacement rider Troy Bayliss in 2006 and their second, and last, victory with Stoner in 2008.

Andrea Dovizioso: “We are going to Valencia with the firm intention of getting a good result, even though it’s not going to be easy because for the last few races my feeling with the GP15 hasn’t been the same as it was in the early part of the season. In any case I will give my all, as always, because I want to finish this season in the best possible way.”
