Smith: “The event is bound to be a memorable one”

One last race of an incredible 2015 MotoGP™ for Bradley Smith, the Brit aiming for the top six in Valencia.

The 2015 MotoGP™ World Championship has been by far Bradley Smith’s best since joining the premier class, the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider frequently beating factory machines. Smith has no intention of changing his aim for the top six in the final round of the year at the Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana. Not only is the Brit fighting for a top six in the race, but he also aims to cement his top six in the championship with a strong final result. As it currently stands Smith is 18 points ahead of Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) and a solid top ten finish in the race would almost certainly cement his top six position in the world standings.

Smith heads to Valencia after a great fourth place in Malaysia, his best dry weather result of the season, full of confidence. Valencia has seen Smith produce some of his best rides; winning his last 125cc race and scoring points in both MotoGP™ appearances. The tight layout of the Valencia track does not provide many opportunities for overtaking, as such a strong grid position will be critical as finding a solid qualifying setup will be Smith’s first order of business. Most of all Smith is eager to put on a great show for the fans, the Valencia GP having sold out weeks ago.

Bradley Smith: “Next up is the season finale and I can’t wait to get going at Valencia where I fully intend to close this incredible year with a good result. My main objective is to complete the 30 lap sprint inside the top six so that I can clinch 6th in the championship standings and finish as the leading satellite rider. This will be super for me and the Tech3 Team and a testament to how hard we’ve all worked in 2015. I’ve had some strong performances at Valencia, which includes winning my last 125cc race, plus after achieving three decent results in the fly away GP’s, I am fully confident of doing a good job this weekend. The event is bound to be a memorable one and we definitely need to hit the ground running on Friday. The layout of the track doesn't provide too many chances to overtake, so a solid qualifying performance will be crucial in order to be in a promising position for Sunday. Having said that, the weather there is always unpredictable and so we need to be ready for any circumstance. As far as I know the event is sold out and the grandstands will be packed, which will be great to see, therefore I am really looking forward to the last challenge of the year.”
