Zarco quickest in Valencia Moto2™ test

The 2015 Moto2™ World Champion Johann Zarco ends the first day of a private two-day test at Valencia on top of the timesheets.

Ajo Motorsport’s Zarco set a 1’35.285 on the 22nd of his 73 laps around the Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana – Ricardo Tormo to continue where he left off at the end of the 2015 season.

The most successful French rider in the history of the World Championship in terms of wins finished 0.128s ahead of Marcel Schrotter on the AGR Team Kalex, with QMMF Racing’s Julian Simon (+0.174s) on the Speed Up machine completing the top three.

Sam Lowes showed that he is getting on well with his new Gresini Racing Kalex by ending the day in fourth, just 0.185s off the pace of Zarco. Schrotter’s new teammate for 2016 Axel Pons (+0.240s) was fifth fastest, ahead of Simone Corsi (Speed Up) in sixth.

The Dynavolt Intact GP duo of Jonas Folger and Sandro Cortese were in 7th and 9th respectively, with Xavier Simeon on his new QMMF Racing Speed Up bike sandwiched between them in eighth.
