Marquez: “We've taken a step forward on day two”

Marc Marquez improves by almost 1.5s on the second day at Sepang as he utilised the new 2016 RC213V “evo” engine.

Marquez set a 2’00.843 on just his fifth lap of the day before an accident with Loris Baz saw the soft tyre option withdrawn from Michelin. The double MotoGP™ World Champion continued to work hard evaluating his chassis and electronics setup, eventually completing 52 laps and finishing 0.748s of the pace of Petrucci at the top of the timesheets.

The three-day Sepang test concludes on Wednesday with the action kicking off at 10am local time.

Marc Marquez: “We've taken a step forward on day two. Unfortunately during the day we didn't manage to make steady progress and we tried out a lot of things, but we did make an improvement on yesterday. I think that it will be important to analyse well everything that we tested today, to see what works and what doesn't, and tomorrow we will continue to try things because we have a lot of work to do. Today we used the same “evo” engine on both bikes in order to have the same reference for the electronics test that we are doing.”
