Binder: “We didn’t have the best conditions”

South Africa’s Brad Binder makes the most of track time at a windswept Valencia test.

Thursday and Friday saw the Red Bull KTM Ajo squad reunite with Brad Binder and new teammate Bo Bendsneyder for the first test of 2016. Binder spent much of the winter break at home in South Africa but came to Valencia ready to work, the two days of private testing giving him and the team a chance to get a proper feel for the new 2016 Moto3™ KTM machine. Thursday saw action stopped towards the end of the day for rain and high winds across both days made the conditions less than ideal but solid progress was made, Binder inside the top five on both days.

Brad Binder: “We couldn’t ride much yesterday, as it rained in the afternoon, but it was very good to get back on the KTM and regain a feel for the bike after two months off it. Yesterday was fine for a first encounter with the bike, despite the rain and strong gusts of wind. Today we had some doubts when we went out, because the wind was strong again. It’s true that we didn’t have the best conditions, but we have learned a lot about the bike for this year, we have taken note and -once we were more relaxed- started going fast at the end of the day. We are eager to continue working in Jerez."
