Redding: “We completed a good workout in the rain”

Scott Redding ends the first day of the Phillip Island test in fourth after completing 41 laps in the mixed conditions.

Redding completed more laps than any other rider on a day that was marked by the mixed weather conditions in Australia. The Brit spent the morning focusing on running on the Michelin wet tyre, before setting his best time in the afternoon on slicks when the track had dried. Redding managed a 1’32.864 on his 33rd lap to end the day fourth fastest, 1.1s behind his teammate Danilo Petrucci who topped the timesheets.

Day two of the Phillip Island test kicks off at 9.45am local time on Tuesday.

Scott Redding: “I completed 41 laps but they were not all that useful. We completed a good workout in the rain and we did a few laps in the dry. All things considered we did two things we wanted to do although I would have liked to have more continuity instead of entering and leaving the pits because of the rain. The lap time was ok since we are still working on the bike and the conditions today were not exactly the best. Rain tires? I had a good feeling. The only problem for me was the aquaplaning because I somehow lost grip with the rear. But I must say that the feelings on the behaviour of the new tires is good.”
