Lowes: “Everything always gave good results”

Lowes: “Everything always gave good results”

Two days of private testing in Jerez leave Sam Lowes filled to the brim with confidence ahead of his 2016 campaign.

The first pre-season test of 2016 drew to a close for Sam Lowes and Team Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 in Jerez. Exploring various settings on the 2016 Kalex was the primary goal for the team and rider with great progress made, especially in relation to suspension setup. It was once again a day filled with laps as Lowes continued to work on long runs, setting a unofficial best time of 1’42.681. In 2015, Lowes qualified sixth for the Spanish GP in Jerez with a 1’43.354, the Brit already half a second quicker in testing and with a time 0.2s faster than Tito Rabat’s pole position time from 2015. This speed along with the work performed leaves Lowes motivated and excited for the next test, the official IRTA test on the second of March in Jerez where all intermediate class teams will be present.

Sam Lowes: “Another great day! We managed to try many things on the bike and also new suspension parts. What it makes us optimistic is that in the two days of testing we worked on different areas, but everything always gave good results, so now we just need to try to put all together in order to take another step forward ahead of Qatar. Today we focused in particular on the front fork, but we also worked on the rear to improve grip, something that we will continue to work on also in the next test: the fact that it will be held on the same track, always here in Jerez, will allow us to do make precise comparisons. At the end of the day we could improve more, trying to make a flying lap, but at this time there is no need to push. We are fast on the distance and that's what matters: I completed a long run of 20 laps and my last lap was the best one. This means that we are very consistent, and that the bike allows me to be very fast also in the final stages of a race.”
