Miller: “We know where we need to improve”

Jack Miller’s off-season wasn’t ideal, a broken leg limiting his testing time but the Australian is ready to forge ahead in Qatar.

Having missed the Sepang test due to a broken leg sustained in a training accident, Jack Miller’s first test of 2016 was at his home circuit in Australia. The test went well and Miller was confident his leg wouldn’t hinder him, unfortunately the more varied corners of the Losail International Circuit at the next test saw him struggle more than before. With two weeks between the test and the race, the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS man has undergone extensive physiotherapy and has regained yet more mobility in his ankle. Due to the injury, Miller and his crew weren’t able to get through as much work as they wanted and were struggling with confidence in the front tyre during the Qatar Test.

The Commercial Bank Grand Prix of Qatar weekend will be all about improving for Miller and his team. Although this is Miller’s second year in the MotoGP™ World Championship, the Qatar GP will be his first race with the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS squad and his first on a factory machine, having campaigned 2015 on the underpowered Open Honda. In 2015 Miller failed to finish the first race of the year, the Australian hopeful on an improved result this time around.

Jack Miller: “We’ve had some time to go through the data from the Qatar test and we know where we need to improve the bike when we head back for the first race of the season. Since the test I’ve also had more time to work on my injured ankle and I have much more mobility in the joint now, which will definitely help this weekend. I’m feeling really good after a solid week of training and I’m looking forward to getting the new season started.”
