Baz Interview: “In Ducati we are part of the project”

Unwavering support from Ducati has Loris Baz confident of a strong 2016 campaign after a tough start.

Riders are often cautious about getting on slightly older machinery, but Loris Baz and Avintia Racing have proved that they can be competitive no matter what: “We still have the old bike from Ducati from 2014, and when I first rode on it everybody told me ‘oh, you will see… the bad point is that this bike can’t turn’. But at the end with the Michelins, I never felt this and the bike is working really well. It was faster than the new bike during nearly all the pre-season, so the good thing is that in Ducati we are part of the project.”

Contact with other riders has seen Baz struggle in the opening rounds, unable to deliver on the promise he showed in testing. Regardless of race results, Baz, Avintia and Ducati remain focused on working together to achieve the best possible results: “Everyday of testing they are coming to do a briefing with us and try to give us some inputs to take the information that we have from the bike.” As the only French rider in the premier class, the Monster Energy Grand Prix de France is an important weekend for Baz, no doubt Ducati's full support will continue.
