Binder: “A tough day that ended with a good result”

Mechanical issues held Brad Binder back in FP1 but once they were solved he and his KTM flew.

During Free Practice 1, Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Brad Binder encountered a mechanical problem down the straight and was forced to pull into the pits. The issue took a long time to resolve and as such he completed only nine laps in FP1 but was still tenth. Free Practice 2 saw Binder improve his time, pushing his KTM hard through sectors 2 and 3 and sitting amongst the top riders for most of the session. Binder fitted fresh tyres for his last run and improved his morning time by over a second and a half, setting a 1’43.365 and completing the day in first position. At this stage Binder seems almost unstoppable, technical issues and back of the grid starts not affecting his progress in the slightest.

Brad Binder: “Today was a tough day that ended with a good result. We started well, with a good feeling on my first three laps, but for some reason my bike stopped on the straight. I had to go to the pits twice but fortunately, thanks to the great work by the team, we solved a problem that had gone unnoticed in the telemetry. In the second session we were able to work normally again and continued to feel comfortable riding. I’m happy to be back at the head of the timesheets and hope that it stays that way throughout the weekend."
