Successful operation for Navarro

The Estrella Galicia 0,0 rider underwent successful surgery on his broken tibia and fibula on Monday.

Surgery was performed on Jorge Navarro (Estrella Galicia 0,0) on the displaced fracture to his left tibia and fibula. The injury was sustained the Saturday (the 11th of June) before at Karting KSB in Valencia and has ruled him out of the Motul TT Assen.

Second in the World Championship standings, Navarro went into surgery on Monday evening with Dr. Ignacio Ginebreda Marti, a specialist Orthopaedic, leading the team to repair the fracture.

Dr. Xavier Mir, who was present at all times to oversee the process and has worked with a number of top level riders, said: “Jorge Navarro sustained a fractured tibia and fibula in his left leg and had intramedullary nailing of the tibia along with proximal and distal milling blocks inserted. This type of intervention, which fixes the tibia with a nail instead of plates, was chosen as it should allow the rider to use his foot sooner and accelerate recovery. The patient will be released in 48 hours and can then begin recovery.”
