Laverty: “We learnt a lot at Assen”

The halfway point of the season is here, Eugene Laverty making just his fourth appearance at the Sachsenring.

Having spent most of his racing career in the WorldSBK paddock, Eugene Laverty (Aspar Team MotoGP) having raced there only three times before. His best result was 15th in 2008, taking only 17th in 2015 when he made his big bike debut at the track. A second point scoring finish at the Germany track is a very distinct possibility, Laverty having made huge improvements over his performance in 2015. The Irish rider is one of only four riders to score in every single race, tenth in the standings his reward. Despite being on a GP14.2 Laverty his five points ahead of Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) in the championship.

As with most of the other Ducati riders, Laverty went to World Ducati Week between the races to meet the passionate Ducatisti. This won't be the only holiday Laverty is taking as after Germany the yearly summer break holidays will begin, giving riders a chance to escape the busy World Championship schedule and focus on their training. For riders such as Laverty, it is also a chance to finalise 2017 plans.

Eugene Laverty: “I have only ridden at Sachsenring a little bit. It is a track with so much turning and that is an area we are always working to improve with this bike so Sachsenring is an important place for us to improve because there are so many long corners there. We learnt a lot at Assen about how we can improve in the long corners so we can take that information to Germany now and hopefully make it count.”

I know what I want from Santa this Christmas ????
