#AustrianGP Moto3™ race guide: Saturday's fastest in stats

As MotoGP™ returns to the Red Bull Ring, the Sunday guide looks through the quickest qualifiers

  • Pole setter Joan Mir starts from the front row for the first time in his rookie season in the Moto3 class. This is the first pole in the Moto3 class by a Spanish rider since Jorge Navarro was fastest qualifier at Silverstone last year.
  • No rider has won a Moto3 race from pole since Enea Bastianini, at Misano last year.
  • Brad Binder is on the front row for the fourth time in 2016. After finishing on the podium at the opening seven races of the year, Binder has finished 12th and 8th at the last two races.
  • In third place on the grid is Enea Bastianini, who has finished on the podium twice in the last three races after not finishing in the top three at the opening six races of the year.
  • Heading the second row of the grid is Aron Canet, who has already had two top six finishes in his rookie grand prix season in the Moto3 class.
  • Fabio Quartararo starts from fifth place on the grid, which is his best qualifying result since the opening race of the year in Qatar. Quartararo will be aiming for a first podium since he finished second at the Dutch TT last year.
  • Francesco Bagnaia starts from the final place on the second row, his best qualifying result since he was in third place on the grid at Jerez.
  • Heading the third row is Nicolo Bulega, making it rookies filling three of the top seven places on the grid.
  • The rider currently in second place in the championship, Jorge Navarro, has qualified in 18th place on the grid – his worst qualifying result since the Italian GP last year.
