Folger: “We finally made it!”

German takes first Moto2™ win for Dynavolt Intact GP

Jonas Folger took a commanding victory in the Moto2™ race at the Automotodrom Brno, after the Germam rider took advantage of a solid Warm Up session to set up for the race in torrential conditions. Folger, who hasn’t won a race in more than a year, put in a calm ride at the front after gaining the lead in the first corner, and held off Alex Rins (Paginas Amarillas HP 40) to cross the line a good few seconds clear to give the Dynavolt Intact GP team their first victory. The German rider is now fourth in the Moto2™ world standings, and looking to consolidate his move up the table ahead of his graduation to MotoGP™ in 2017 with the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 squad.

Jonas Folger (P1): “We finally made it! It was a long race. I tried to make as little mistakes as possible, which wasn’t easy as we were doing very fast lap times and Alex (Rins) was closing in right behind me. It was clear to me that I was going for the podium. We knew after the Warm Up, that we have an excellent pace. I also felt really comfortable on the bike and I didn’t have any chaotic laps during the Warm Up session. That’s why I was able to achieve the lap times I did. It was a fairly relaxed race to be honest, except for the last few laps, when I risked a lot to gain the 4 second advantage. The grip was really good and I also felt confident in the rain. Everything fit today! The victory was very important for us and the points are extremely valuable. Thank you to my team, who did a brilliant job. We have chosen the right set up for a wet race and performed very strong together today. Even a win in the rain, makes us very confident, especially since we improved to fourth place in the world championship. That is an amazing feeling. Everything has been reshuffled and we need to do whatever is in our power to secure this position.”
