Home hero Sam Lowes (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2) went quickest in Moto2™ morning warm up, continuing his run at the top of the timesheets at home. With the track green following overnight rain and conditions cool, some of the grid were more cautious than others. Second was Isaac Viñales (Tech 3 Racing), with Franco Morbidelli (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS) just beating teammate Alex Marquez into P3.
Xavi Vierge (Tech 3 Racing) was fifth, with Marcel Schrotter (AGR Team), Takaaki Nakagami (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia) and Jonas Folger (Dynavolt Intact GP) just behind. Xavier Simeon (QMMF Racing Team) and Tom Luthi (Garage Plus Interwetten) completed the top ten.
