Binder: “I worked hard for the win”

South African rider has big lead in Moto3™ standings with six races remaining

After runaway standings leader Brad Binder won an enthralling Moto3™ race at Silverstone on Sunday he underlined how hard his opponents had made it for him as they battled around the rapid British circuit.

With his nearest rival in the title fight Jorge Navarro crashing out and therefore unable to register points at the Octo British Grand Prix Binder now has a sizeable 86 point lead in the overall classification with six races more to run in 2016.

However, securing his latest victory was not easy task for Binder with his fellow podium finishers Francesco Bagnaia and Bo Bendsneyder pushing him hard. He also survived a scare as the highly determined Stefano Manzi battled closely with him at one stage of an amazing ride to fourth place from 34th on the grid for the Italian wild card rider.

Brad Binder: “I had to work really for the win. A couple of times in the race I fell back to fifth or sixth position and I just found myself getting eaten up. So I said to myself the safest place to be is in front. From then on I just tried to stay first, second or third. When the time came on the last lap I knew what I had to do and I’m so, so happy to get another win. Congratulations to Pecco (Bagnaia) and to Bo (Bendsneyder) on his first podium. He did an incredible job this weekend.”
