Dovizioso approaches Aragon with open mind

Experienced Ducati Team rider believes he can be fast this weekend at Spanish circuit

As one of the most experienced riders on the MotoGP™ grid Andrea Dovizioso has raced in every edition of the Aragon Grand Prix since it joined the calendar in 2010, his best result being a third place in 2012.

The Romagna rider took the chequered flag in fifth place 12 months ago and whilst he is not making specific predictions of results for this year’s Gran Premio Movistar de Aragon he is confident he can be on the pace this weekend.

Going into the Aragon round Dovizioso sits sixth in the 2016 MotoGP™ World Championship general standings on 99 points, 37 points behind Maverick Viñales who is fifth, with five races to go. Dovizioso is just three points ahead of his Ducati Team colleague Andrea Iannone and five points ahead of his former teammate Cal Crutchlow in the standings so every position and every point is important.

Dovizioso states, “Aragon is a very strange track and is totally different from Misano. This year you don’t know what to expect at every race because of the new tyre supplier, but the situation is the same for everyone and we come to Spain with an open mind and the aim of obtaining the best possible result.”

“Things didn’t go the way I expected at Misano and I didn’t even have a chance of fighting for the podium, but we know we can be fast on almost every track and so we’ll do our best to have a good weekend.”
