Lorenzo: "Sometimes a negative creates a positive"

Reigning world champion turns Warm Up crash into race advantage

Jorge Lorenzo (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) had a tough start to the Aragon GP on Friday, struggling to find the pace of the frontrunners and suffering with tyre problems. Pulling out a laptime in qualifying to complete the front row, Lorenzo crashed in Warm Up and thereby gained back an advantage - doing two warm up laps before the race to check the damaged machine, instinct took over on tyre choice and the 'Spartan' bounced back.

Jorge Lorenzo (P2): "Sometimes a negative creates a positive thing, and today the crash made me take two warm up laps to try both bikes, because we wanted to check the crashed bike. I felt ok when I tried the first bike on the hard tyre, and when I tried the second bike with the soft I didn't feel the same. On the grid it's difficult to choose in these situations, last minute, but my instinct from the crash made me able to make this race and finally we've ended up in a great position because we expected to finish six or seventh - and finally we are second and not far from the winner."
