Baz: “My target was to finish”

Frenchman reflects on Aragon race after returning to MotoGP™ action

It was an important weekend for Avintia Racing’s Loris Baz at the Gran Premio Movistar de Aragon, as he returned to riding after missing the race at Misano. The Frenchman suffered a big crash at the start of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in round 12, and after a tough season already interrupted by injury he was disappointed to miss Misano, but pleased to be back in Aragon - even if the going was tough.

Baz knew that the race at MotorLand Aragon was going to be hard in his physical condition, but he demonstrated determination to finish the race – albeit in 18th place - as he got back into the swing of things before the forthcoming flyaway triple header.

Loris Baz (P18): “It was a tough race from the first lap to the end. My target was to finish, to gather some data and to take this race as a training session. We finished far behind, almost 20 seconds behind Hector (Barbera). He was one second per lap faster than me. I’m not physically fit enough to finish a race or even half a race riding these bikes, so today we did something positive.”

“Now I have to work hard during the next two weeks, train with the bicycle and do some specific work for my leg. I’ll try to go to Japan, Australia and Malaysia in the best possible shape, because I love two of these tracks and I think it will be possible to get good results.”
