Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team) has five wins at the Twin Ring Motegi – three in MotoGP™, one in the 250 World Championship and one in 125 – making him the most successful rider at the track. A stunner in 2015 saw Pedrosa take his first win of the year after beginning the season with serious surgery, and after already having taken a win at Misano in 2016 the ‘Baby Samurai’ will be eager to chalk up another one at the home venue of Honda. With tyres the biggest talking point of 2016, post-Brno test improvements have seen Pedrosa start to get the measure of the Michelins to a greater degree – with rubber the focus of work to find a good setup as the Japanese GP gets underway.

Dani Pedrosa: “Motegi is one of my favourite tracks, and in addition to the fact that it’s Honda’s home circuit, I’ve had good results there. Clearly, we want to get the best result possible in front of our Japanese fans, but we must arrive there and start working on the bike and the tyres to understand if we’ll be able to be as competitive as we have been lately. At this moment, the most important thing is to find the best combination between the tyres and the bike, with myself also in the formula of course, to try and start to go well beginning Friday.”
