With conditions changing almost minute-by-minute, the final Free Practice session for the intermediate class – and also the second, after FP2 was rained off on Friday – saw reigning Champion Johann Zarco (Ajo Motorsport) top the timesheets after the track conditions finally improved for a sprint to the line in the final minutes. Axel Pons (AGR Team) and Tom Luthi (Garage Plus Interwetten) were second and third, respectively.
Alex Marquez (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS) was fourth fastest with a good run of hot laps, ahead of Marcel Schrotter (AGR Team), Simone Corsi (Speed Up Racing) and Sandro Cortese (Dynavolt Intact GP). Hafizh Syahrin (Petronas Raceline Malaysia) was eighth quickest, ahead of late crasher Julian Simon (QMMF Racing Team) and the second EG 0,0 Marc VDS bike of Franco Morbidelli.
Conditions could change again before Qualifying for Moto2™, with the session set for 16:05 local time (GMT +11) and the pack ready to shuffle again.
