Moto3™’s Lukey Heights Red Flag incident

McPhee crash scatters chaos down through Turn 10

The Moto3™ race at Phillip Island was red flagged early on as John McPhee (Peugeot MC Saxoprint) lost control of his bike and hit the floor – causing a knock on effect for many of those around him as rider and machine slid over the asphalt.

McPhee’s bike collected Andrea Migno (Sky Racing Team VR46) and Enea Bastianini (Gresini Racing Moto3), with all three riders and bikes then cascading down the hill towards the apex of Turn 10. Most were able to avoid the incoming debris, but Jorge Navarro (Estrella Galicia 0,0) couldn’t evade Enea Bastianini, running over the Italian as he tried to stop.

All riders were conscious and stable soon after the crash, with only McPhee and Bastianini going to the Medical Center. They have since also headed to hospital for a full examination, although have no major injuries. McPhee did suffer a broken thumb, however, and may require small surgery.
