Nakagami on top as the rain flags come out in FP3

Japanese rider fastest in an interrupted Saturday morning session

Despite two interruptions as rain affected conditions at Sepang International Circuit, there was a window in Moto2™ FP3 for times to lower – with Idemitsu Honda Team Asia rider Takaaki Nakagami taking over at the top. Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS rider Franco Morbidelli, who was fastest on Friday, remained near the top in second, with Dynavolt Intact GP rider Jonas Folger locking out the top three.

Axel Pons (AGR Team) continued his good pace in Malaysia in P4, with reigning Champion and Championship leader Johann Zarco (Ajo Motorsport) completing the top five ahead of key title rival Tom Luthi (Garage Plus Interwetten).

Alex Marquez (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS) was back on track after missing the Australian GP and remained well within the top ten in P7, with podium sitter last time out Sandro Cortese (Dynavolt Intact GP) and compatriot Marcel Schrotter (AGR Team) in eighth and ninth.

Home hero and former Sepang podium finisher Hafizh Syahrin (Petronas Raceline Malaysia) locked out the top ten to impress at home once again.

Championship contender Alex Rins (Paginas Amarillas HP 40) completed the session in fifteenth.
