#TBT: Dovi's Donington 2009 triumph

Flashing back to Andrea Dovizioso's win at Donington Park

After a his stunning second career win in the Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix to become the ninth different victor of 2016, motogp.com looks back at Andrea Dovizioso's first triumph in the premier class - the British Grand Prix at Donington Park in 2009.

Coming out on top on a grid that included long-time rivals Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP), Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team) and Casey Stoner, Dovizioso took his first career win in Repsol Honda colours.

Rain greeted the grid on race day with the Great British weather true to reputation, and Lorenzo was the first high profile casualty to fall, going down at Goddards. That released Lorenzo's key title rival and teammate Rossi to push and take some more risks - which then also saw the 9-time World Champion crash out when battling Dovizioso for the lead.

Pushing hard in the final stages to escape a charge from fellow podium finishers Colin Edwards and Randy de Puniet, Dovizioso kept it together and navigated the difficult mixed conditions to earn his first MotoGP™ victory.
