Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) was P7 on the second day of 2017 testing in Valencia at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, as teammate Maverick Viñales topped the timesheets. Doing a lot of comparisons back-to-back with 2016 and 2017 equipement, the ‘Doctor’ believes there is still a lot of work to do – but has an overall positive first impression. Movistar Yamaha will next travel to Sepang next week for a test, joined by Monster Yamaha Tech 3, before the winter testing ban comes into place ahead of next year.
VR46: “It was quite a long day because we did a lot of comparisons between the old engine and new engine, old chassis and new chassis…we also tried some new tyres. We still have a lot of work to do. But it was a quite positive day. We need to work on the package in general – especially on the chassis. We need more time to find the right setting. And the engine – this is the first evolution so we also need to work on that.”
