Pedrosa: "There are positives and things we need to work on"

Repsol Honda positive after first public run on the new 2017 Honda

Dani Pedrosa put in 41 laps on the second day of testing for 2017 following the Valencia GP, as the 'Baby Samurai' continues to recover from his highside on Friday in Motegi. Pedrosa, who set his quickest lap on number 38 of 41, posted a best of 1:30.686 to go fifth overall - around half a second down on teammate Marquez, who did many more laps. The Repsol Honda Team focused on the 2017 bike and new engine evolutions, trying a variety of combinations to get the most information possible ahead of the winter break.

Dani Pedrosa (P5, day two): “We were able to ride with the new bike a little more and further compare the characteristics. We continued to take things fairly easy physically and not put in too many laps in order to keep up the recovery, but we tried to understand more about the new bike, to see how the tyres, suspension and mapping work with it. I think there are things that are positive and other details that we’ll need to continue working on. We must take the data we’ve gathered and carefully analyze it in order to understand what step to take next with the bike.”
