Marquez: “I’ve always felt good in Argentina”

Reigning Champion ready to fight for his first podium of the year

Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) fought hard for the podium in the first half of the race in Qatar during the season opener, but the reigning Champion then crossed the line in fourth ruing his tyre choice on a difficult track for Honda.

Next up is Termas de Rio Honda for the Gran Premio Motul de la Republica Argentina for round two, and with a good record at the track that has seen Marquez fight for the win three times in a row – resulting in two victories and a DNF – the number 93 is gunning for a podium at least.

The track should be more suited to the Honda, and the paddock are all hoping for better conditions after the weather disruptions in Qatar – with Argentina providing its own challenges with low grip. Passion for MotoGP™ is high, however, with fans some of the most dedicated in the world.

Marc Marquez: “Qatar was a hard Grand Prix but we improved a lot over the weekend even if we couldn’t reach the podium on Sunday. Now we’ll see if the work we did there will be fruitful in Argentina. The track is nice; I’ve always felt good there, but the grip level is always pretty low. Tyre life is something to be aware of, as it’s normally very short, so we’ll work to reduce this issue and also to further improve the general bike setup. We look forward to fighting for the podium in front of our Argentinian fans, who are very passionate and supportive.”
