Oliveira: “This result is a reward for the work we’ve done”

Red Bull KTM Ajo rider takes first KTM podium in Moto2™

It was a stunning first pole for Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Ajo) on Saturday at the Gran Premio Motul de la Republica Argentina, as the Portuguese rider gave the new KTM intermediate class chassis its first – and then followed it up on Sunday with an impressive charge to second.

The podium was the first for Oliveira in Moto2™ as well as the first for KTM, backing up the outfit’s impressive start to the season in Qatar.

Oliveira: "The target was to pick up points and finish the race"

Miguel Oliveira, P2: "Getting this second position in Argentina is fantastic. The start of the race was not easy, since I had a few scares when I was in the leading group. Then two riders escaped ahead of me and I was not able to keep up. Little by little I tried to catch them as I think I had better pace, but I didn’t know if it was good enough to pass them. I tried and never gave up. On the last lap I saw that Marquez had crashed. It was a shame, but I made the most of it to climb one step further up on the podium. I am very happy with this result; it is a reward for the good work we have done over the course of these past few months."
