Martin: “It’s important that we’re consistent”

Del Conca Gresini Moto3 rider takes another podium and moves up in the Championship

Jorge Martin (Del Conca Gresini Moto3) had an impressive Moto3™ race in the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas, on the podium once again and now the only rider in the field to make it three from three on rostrum finishes. Just beating teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio (Del Conca Gresini Moto3) over the line after a last corner duel to keep second, Martin gained a valuable 20 points behind winner Romano Fenati (Marinelli Rivacold Snipers).

With Championship leader Joan Mir (Leopard Racing) finishing down in eighth and John McPhee (British Talent Team) in seventh, Martin also moved up to second in the title standings – and is now only six off the top.

Jorge Martin, P2: “It was hard. I expected a big gap from Canet but he crashed, and we were in a big group, without Fenati, fighting throughout the race. In the second start we had trouble with the tyre, I don’t know why but it was sliding a lot compared to the first start. I’m happy to be on the podium, I’m consistent this season and I hope to continue like this. It’s important that we’re consistent and Mir’s eighth isn’t so good for him. It’s a bit strange because he was so fast throughout the weekend, but in the race it was very hard, it was hot and we struggled a lot. I want to keep going this way. Finally now it’s Europe, I feel great there and there are some of my favourite tracks so I will try to enjoy it and give the maximum.”
