Crutchlow: “Front row in the dry in Jerez is good”

LCR rider completes all-Honda front row

Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda) starts from the front row in the Spanish GP, lighting up the timesheets with red sectors until crossing the line to lock out the front row in a Honda 1-2-3.

Concentrating on some testing for Honda throughout the weekend so far, the two-time GP winner is happy to have had good pace despite making few setup changes – and aims for a podium push on Sunday.

Cal Crutchlow, P3: “I’ve been losing in the last sector the whole weekend but I’m very happy to be on the front row, my second of the year, and it was really nice to complete the Honda front row. The team have been working really hard and this weekend we’ve been testing some things for Honda, long nights for the guys in the garage and we haven’t changed much in the setup but we’re happy to do it and it’s a nice job to have – and we’re fast at the same time. We’ve tried most of the tyres and we know the soft rear won’t last the race. The hard will last but I don’t know if it will be fast enough. If anyone can make it work though it will be the Hondas. That’s something we have to calculate tonight but overall it’s a positive day. To be on the front row in the dry in Jerez is good, and I’m looking forward to trying to go with the guys tomorrow and try to challenge for the podium.”
