Marquez: “The grip is really good”

New tarmac gets the thumbs up from the reigning Champion after good grip in the wet - second fastest on Friday

Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) ended the first day of the French GP in P2, second fastest in a drying FP1 and then again in the full wet of FP2. The rider from Cervera says he was comfortable in mixed conditions in the morning before needing a little longer to get the setup in the wet – but that the new track surface in Le Mans seems very positive.

Weather could change again tomorrow and the number 93 says dry track time will be important – with race day looking to have clearer skies and setup work needing to be done.

Marc Marquez, P2: “I felt quite good today and it was an important day because here you never know what weather we’ll have on Sunday. We’re ready, in mixed conditions I was quite comfortable, but then in full wet we started without a perfect setup but then on the second run we changed some things and I felt much better, and felt good in the wet again. The feeling is good, we’ll see tomorrow but it will be important to have some dry sessions since Sunday seems it might be dry and we need to set up the bike. The new tarmac we’ve only tried in the wet but the grip is really good. It’s impressive, you can ride really fast – maybe in the wet sometimes you prefer to be slower! But it’s really good.”
