Lorenzo: "I was very worried about the race"

Ducati Team rider debriefs the #GermanGP

It was a stunner of a start for Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati Team) in the GoPro Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, as the five-time World Champion shot up from P6 on the grid to muscle his way around Turn 1 in third. He later found the pace hard to keep with some rear grip issues on the largely left-hander Sachsenring, and the 'Spartan' crossed the line in P11.

Not satisfied with the result, Lorenzo says the Sachsensing and the TT Circuit Assen both had some corners in which he felt he was losing time - but that the coming venues on the calendar after the summer break should see a big improvement.

Jorge Lorenzo, P11: “I can’t be satisfied with the result, neither with the final position nor with the gap to the winner, but after the warm-up, which went really bad, I was very worried about the race. Instead I managed to do four or five laps at a good pace in the early stages and I was racing at a decent pace until the performance dropped off on the left side of the rear tyre. In the final stages however I had to reduce my pace because the bike was spinning under acceleration and I was no longer able to fight for ninth. Both at Assen and here in Germany there were two or three corners where I was losing too much time to the riders in the leading group and I hope that we will no longer have the same problems at the next tracks. We knew that these two races were going to be pretty complicated for us but, at least here at the Sachsenring, we’ve understand several things that will be useful at the next circuits, which are better for me.”
