Dovizioso: “I’m optimistic”

Fastest on Friday, third in the title fight, feeling good at Brno

Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) had an impressive first day in the Czech GP, taking to the top of the timesheets in the final minutes of FP2 to reign supreme. Not everyone put on a soft tyre to make it a shootout, but the Italian was clear by four tenths – and crucially also feels the rhythm is good.

Teammate Jorge Lorenzo also tested a new, radical aero fairing to steal more column inches for the Borgo Panigale Factory, and with information from the wet conditions of FP1 and the drier FP2 for the red garage, ‘DesmoDovi’ is optimistic.

AD04, P1: “It’s been a good day. In the wet we compared the medium and soft options, so we have information for if it rains. Then in the afternoon we managed a great laptime. We know everyone didn’t use the same strategy, because not everyone put on the soft tyre. I don’t think any of us want to race in the rain, we prefer the dry. In MotoGP, if you do a test, it always helps. But we’ve been quick and we’re able to keep a good rhythm – I’m optimistic.”
