Webber: "This will be the making of Jack Miller"

From one Aussie to another – former F1 ace Mark Webber shares his excitement on Miller’s 2021 Ducati Team move

Speaking on the latest episode of the Last On The Brakes MotoGP™ Podcast, former Formula One ace Mark Webber had a fascinating chat with hosts Matt Dunn and Fran Wyld. One of the topics that cropped up was Webber’s thoughts on Jack Miller’s 2021 Ducati Team move – and it’s safe to say the Australian is excited about seeing his compatriot move to factory red.

“It’s great, I’m so stoked for him,” began Webber. “I sent him a message on Instagram to congratulate him. He’s worked hard and he’s had some tricky moments early in his career, and I think that he will really, really grab this opportunity with everything that he’s got.”

Webber - a nine-time F1 race winner - relates Miller’s progression to a factory team to his switch to Red Bull Racing, saying once you get into that sort of environment, you really start to come of age.

“I think he’s going to be as prepared as he can be. Is he going to continue to learn? Absolutely. I think someone like him will benefit even more in terms of having that next level of professionalism in terms of putting the weekends together, technically, structurally, knowing what to focus on and keeping it all bigger picture stuff. Because when you’re fighting your own fight sometimes you need a bit of that from someone else helping you on that journey.

“I can certainly relate to that, once you even get yourself in a more established and calmer environment you can really come of age yourself and I think this will be the making of Jack Miller. There will be more pressure but I think he’ll feel he’s on good stuff now and he’s around good people – not saying he wasn’t before, but it’s just this next layer and a better environment. I’m frothing! I can’t wait.”
