Filling in for the recovering Somkiat Chantra (IDEMITSU Honda LCR), Takaaki Nakagami also finds himself injured and will take no further part in the Tissot Grand Prix of Czechia weekend. On Lap 2 of the Tissot Sprint, Nakagami was taken out by Augusto Fernandez (Yamaha Factory Racing Team). A tear in a knee ligament means the Japanese rider has decided to take no further part in the weekend and will now focus on getting fit again.
A statement from the team said: “Initially, Nakagami appeared to be in stable condition, with no major complications. However, after reporting some pain in his right leg, he was taken to the medical centre for evaluation. What was first believed to be a minor contusion was later diagnosed as a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) tear in his right knee. An MRI scan will be performed to confirm the extent of the injury. In the coming days, the medical team will determine the next steps in terms of treatment and recovery.”
Heal up quickly, Taka!
