Red Bull KTM Tech3's Miguel Oliveira set the fastest lap of Q1 at the European Grand Prix and, as a result, booked his place in the fight for pole position. The Portuguese star will be joined in Q2 by Esponsorama Racing's Johann Zarco.

Both Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP riders, Maverick Viñales and Valentino Rossi, failed to progress out of the session, with The Doctor lining-up 18th on the grid for Sunday's main event in Valencia. Surprisingly, the men that finished one-two in the wet of Le Mans a month ago also failed to make it out of Q1 with Ducati Team's Danilo Petrucci ending up 19th and Repsol Honda Team's Alex Marquez ending up 14th.
