Fabio Quartararo clinched back-to-back wins but the weekend was dominated by the return of Marc Marquez

As weekends go, they don’t get much better than that for Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP). The Frenchman converted pole position to victory at the Grande Prémio 888 de Portugal as the MotoGP™ race sees some big names crash out, but that wasn’t the case for second place Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) and third place Joan Mir (Team Suzuki Ecstar). The returning Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) battles through the pain to finish P7 in Portimao.

With Q2 places up for grabs, FP3 normally provides some dramatic action. However, after the red flags came out in Portimao following Jorge Martin's crash, it left us with a stunning climax to the session. Only four minutes remained as all of the grid exited pitlane together in the hope of grabbing a place inside the top ten.

Both the 2020 MotoGP™ World Champion Joan Mir and six-time premier class king Marc Marquez found themselves in Q1. As a result, the Repsol Honda man latched onto the rear of the Suzuki as the mental battles between the pair kicked off.
