Alex Rins pulls out of German GP due to injury

Suffering in pain from a fracture to his left wrist, the Spaniard will play no further part at the Sachsenring

Having given it his best shot, Alex Rins has decided to withdraw from the Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland with the pain in his left wrist proving too much to deal with. The Team Suzuki Ecstar participated in Friday's action and FP3 on Saturday despite suffering a fracture at the Catalan GP a fortnight ago but has since reassessed the situation and decided to focus on recovery this weekend instead.

Posting to social media, the Spaniard said: "I gave my maximum. I came here to Germany to try and see if it is possible to make the GP, but after FP3 I was suffering a lot of pain in my hand. So, myself and the team have decided to try and recover as much as possible, to not do the race and come back for Assen. For sure it's a big shame because I really like this track but I'm not able to ride fast so we decided to finish the GP here."

It now means Joan Mir will fly the flag solo for the Hamamatsu factory in Germany, while we wish Rins a speedy recovery.
